Measure Infrasound

Frequencies

There are a lot of infrasound signals from a lot of sources we don’t normally think about. We had one customer report that his InfraSignal Radio system picked up the sonic boom from the METEOR that hit over middle Georgia in June 2025 and set off the alarm.

Another customer reported HELICOPTER NOISE setting off his alarm system. This problem was solved by using the “ONE CHANNEL ON CHART / SCOPE” mode and channels 1 through 13, 15 and 16, avoiding channel 14.

SETUP DETAILS

Measuring the frequency of a strong infrasound signal on the “INFRASOUND ON METER” mode is easy. Touch the INFRASOUND ON METER button. The radio takes a sample of the signal and displays the frequency in green text in a window at the bottom of the screen.

If the signal strength decreases and a message appears in the window “WAITING FOR A STRONGER SIGNAL”, you can touch the FORCE MEASUREMENT button. This allows frequency measurements to be made all the way down to the noise level. The frequency measurements will be displayed in yellow text to indicate that the measurements are less accurate.
